Statement:

Martha Mellinger is an artist living and working in Sonoma, California. During high school she studied at the California College of Arts and Crafts in Oakland, California. She graduated from the University of California in Berkeley with a combined major of art and art history. Her graduate work in painting was done at UCLA.

Living in Sonoma and traveling in Italy have provided her with much inspiration for painting. The expressive and personal quality of her work reflect varied interests. The studio where she works is set in rural Sonoma but is close enough to San Francisco to enjoy the events and the energy of the city. Currently she exhibits in local galleries and businesses and is represented in private and corporate collections worldwide. In 2005, she was nominated to represent the United States in the Fifth International Biennale of Contemporary Art at the Fortezza da Basso, Florence, Italy.
